Ghana Education Service GES Study Leave With Pay Quota 2010/2011 Academic Year.

The Ghana Education Service wishes to bring you the notice of its members and the general public the approved subject areas and conditions for the grant of study leave with pay for the 2010/2011 academic year.

The quota for; the award of study leave with pay for this year is three thousand (3,00) applicants of the Service. In line with the GES Study leave with pay policy, members of the Service should satisfy the following conditions to qualify for the award of study leave with pay.

 

CONDITIONS FOR THE GRANT OF STUDY LEAVE WITH PAY
1. The minimum number of years to serve before qualifying for the grant of study leave with pay is five years satisfactory service. A beneficiary of study leave with pay shall be bonded for the number of years served at the institution plus one (1) year.


2. An applicant who has served in a designated deprived area for two (2) years may be eligible for consideration for the grant of study leave with pay.


3. Applicants who apply for study leave with pay in the critical subject areas would be required to teach initially for two years before embarking on study leave with pay.


4. Non-Professional graduade teachers should serve for at least one (1) year before being eligible for the Post Graduate Diploma in Educatiuon (PGDE) course.


5. Members of the Service returning from Secondment must serve a minimum of two (2) years before they become eligible for study leave with pay.


6. Members of the Service who vacate the service and are re-engaged must serve a minimum of five years before being eligible for study leave with pay.


7. An applicant who is eligible for study leave with pay must have a minimum oftwo (2) years to serve after the course. For example, Staff who are fifty five (55) years and above cannot apply for study leave with pay to pursue courses that last for four (4) years or more. They can however, apply to pursue sourses that have duration between (1) and three (3) years.


8. An applicant shall be eligible for study leave with pay subject to the following:
      a. Good conduct
      b. Good Performance
      c. Recommendation by immediate supervisor

 

  APPLICATION FOR STUDY LEAVE WITH PAY
1. Applicants should obtain application forms from District/Regional offices.

 

2. Applicants should complete application forms (4 copies). Attach Certified True Copies of Certificate(s).

 

3. Applications should be submitted to the applicant’s REGIONAL DIRECTOR through the DISTRICT DIRECTOR/HEAD OF INSTITUTION by 30th April, 2010.

 

4. The Regional/District Directors should ensure that the list of all eligible applicants reach the Director, Human Resource Management and Development Division (HRMD) GES /Headquarters by 31st May, 2010.
