Stanbic Bank Gives Schoolchildren Treat

STANBIC Bank Ghana last Thursday joined United Way Ghana to celebrate this year's Day of Caring with the staff and pupils of the Mother Theresa School for Girls at Senya Beraku in the Central Region.

The members of staff of Stanbic Bank spent the day weeding, painting sweeping and constructing a wall around the school. They also donated food items of the equipment and building materials all worth GH¢3.000 to the school.

The Day of Caring is an annual event organised by United Way Ghana during which individuals and groups from companies take time of their normal work schedule of the day more purposeful by caring for and sharing love with needy communities:

Making the donation on -behalf of the' Stanbic staff, Mr. Bennet Frimpong, a Public Relations Officer of the bank, said the bank gave immense credit to United Way for the initiative to do something meaningful on Valentine's Day.

"The bank is fully committed to the larger society that supports our work and we believe that it is critical to pay back our dues to society. And what better way to do that than spending time with these young ones during the season of love?" he asked.

Welcoming the group, the Headmistress of the school, Madam Nefissa Harwla, said it was grateful to Stanbic for its kind gesture.

"We really feel special today because it's not all the time that we-have groups visiting and spending time with us like this. You've put smiles on our faces and the children will always remember that," she said.

The school was established in 1998 to cater for girls in the town who were being trafficked to Yeji and other parts of the country as child labourers.

This is the third consecutive time since 2007 that Stanbic Bank has participated in the Day of Caring event.
